German GP FP1: Ducati Insists

Dovizioso quickest out the blocks in Germany

Ducati rider – and points leader – starts Sachsenring weekend on top

MotoGP™ Championship leader Andrea Dovizioso (Ducati Team) topped FP1 at the Sachsenring, putting in a late charge to the top after proving a key presence in the top echelons of the timesheets throughout the session. Maverick Viñales (Movistar Yamaha MotoGP) was second by less than half a tenth, ahead of Dani Pedrosa (Repsol Honda Team).

The conditions remained dry despite threatening grey clouds overhead, and a full 55 minute session of action to began the German GP – with FP1 and FP2 extended to allow riders more experience of the new track surface.

There were several crashers including Andrea Iannone (Team Suzuki Ecstar), Scott Redding (Octo Pramac Racing) and Alvaro Bautista (Pull&Bear Aspar Team), as well as an issue for Valentino Rossi (Movistar Yamaha MotoGP) early in the session that saw the ‘Doctor’ stopped on track.
