Less known than the more prestigious Italian brands such as MV Agusta, Moto Guzzi or Ducati, the motorcycles produced by Giovanni Parrilla were not less interesting. The single cylinder of 250cc developed in 1946 was very successful and used a cast camshaft driven by bevel heads. The bike was available in touring, sport and race form. This Parilla has long been part of a German collection of racing motorcycles. The previous owner mentioned to our collector that this bike had competed in Germany during the period 1955-1960. It had been restored there a little over ten years ago, and efforts were made to preserve the original machine, whose extraordinary fairing is in aluminum, which has been preserved without damage, as evidenced by the photos taken before the restoration, showing the motorcycle in a beautiful old state. After its restoration, this Parilla 250 took part in the 2002 Schottenring Grand Prix, before returning to the Italian collection that we are offering. A racing machine, it might be a special model, of which only six may have been produced. Derived from the road version, this bike differs in featuring thinner frame tubes and is without the engine driven dynamo system. There is one other example in the Barber collection, in the United States, of this model. This aesthetically beautiful motorcycle is a fine example of Italian creativity in the field of sports bike competitions in the 1950s. It will delight enthusiasts of single-cylinder racing sensitive to the beauty and status of this machine.
