Italian rider Luca Marini of the Mooney VR46 Racing Team topped Practice 1 of the MotoGP Red Bull Grand Prix of the Americas at Austin, Texas. Marini clocked in at 2:03.250, followed by Fabio Quartararo of Monster Energy Yamaha MotoGP, who was 0.150 seconds behind. Johann Zarco of Prima Pramac Racing was third. The riders were eager to secure a Q2 spot due to the threat of rain in Practice 2. However, some of the big names, including Marco Bezzecchi, Miguel Oliveira, and Aleix Espargaro, finished outside the top 12 and may face Q1.
