Aprilia Racing dominated Day 1 at the Gran Premio Michelin de la República Argentina, with Aleix Espargaro finishing on top in Practice 2 after his teammate and P1 pacesetter Maverick Viñales led the field in Practice 1. Meanwhile, Fabio Quartararo encountered difficulties, finishing Day 1 in P14, 0.746s behind Aleix Espargaro’s top time. Marco Bezzecchi claimed P3, with Luca Marini bouncing back from a disappointing opening weekend with a solid Friday P4 in Termas de Rio Hondo. Johann Zarco rounded out the top five. Quartararo will have to battle it out in Q1 alongside other big hitters, including Alex Marquez, 2020 World Champion Joan Mir, Red Bull KTM Factory Racing duo Brad Binder and Jack Miller. Saturday will also feature the Tissot Sprint, starting with Free Practice at 10:10 local time.
