Australian rider Jack Miller of Red Bull KTM Factory Racing set the fastest lap time on Day 1 of the Grande Prémio TISSOT de Portugal, ahead of Maverick Viñales of Aprilia Racing and the reigning champion Francesco Bagnaia of Ducati Lenovo Team. Miller smashed the lap record with a 1:37.746, while Viñales was just 0.037 seconds behind. Bagnaia followed in third place, 0.147 seconds behind Miller. Other riders who made it to the top 10 for a secured spot in Q2 ahead of the first-ever MotoGP Sprint include Luca Marini, Jorge Martin, Fabio Quartararo, Johann Zarco, Marco Bezzecchi, Aleix Espargaro, and Enea Bastiaini. The first-ever MotoGP Sprint will be held on March 26.
